In the year 2015, internet prices skyrocketed as people bought net packs for Rs. 249 for 1GB per month and for that paying Rs. Reliance Jio has changed the entire landscape of India. As of 31 January 2019, it is the third largest mobile network operator in India and the ninth largest mobile network operator in the world with over 289.44 million subscribers. This gave us reasonable data rates with high internet speeds. Jio invaded the market and ate up the market share, causing concern among other network operators. They couldn’t match Jio’s pricing, hence the huge shift in customer preferences. Jio is currently the second largest network operator to acquire Vodafone-Idea, surpassing Airtel. It provides the foundation for other Internet-based technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), AI, and other types of wearable technology. Many businesses are now running on Jio.

2016: India ranks third in terms of internet subscribers and 40% of users prefer online shopping. Jio became the fastest growing network with over 50 million subscribers within three months of its official launch.

2017: Rural India penetration increased by 18% compared to last year. Jio has played an important role in accelerating the overall growth of the internet. It offered 4G speed to the entire Indian market at an affordable price, the services were free for a year.
