Italian brand Kartell, French designer Philippe Starck and 3D software company Autodesk have collaborated to launch the first chair that will be created by A.I. in collaboration with humans. The team used an algorithm to design a chair with as little material as possible, while respecting the required comfort and aesthetic standards.

These microorganisms selectively remove the shoe material in the most crucial areas creating unique ventilation patterns.

The “Elle Décor at Work” exhibition featured co-working spaces where the atmosphere was permeated with a sense of visual comfort. A lot of greenery was placed above the workplaces thanks to the work of landscaper Marco Bay, who added lush vegetation to improve the microclimate and thus the overall well-being.

The new nomadic way of living is helping us to focus on the essentials, to live and travel lighter, thus improving our mobility and giving us more freedom. Panter & Tourron’s Tense collection, for example, includes five pieces of furniture that can be easily disassembled and assembled. All the pieces (table, chair, pendant light, sconces and screens) are imagined as essential furniture for global nomads. Each of the five items is easy to transport, either flat or in a tube, and can be assembled without the need for parts or tools, allowing you to recreate and rebuild a home anywhere in just a few steps.
A circular approach to the economy is becoming mainstream, and as a result, circular design is now a priority for many brands and designers. Waste is no longer considered unwanted material or a threat to the environment. German designer Alexander Schul created Substantial Furniture with a series of design pieces – lamp, chair and table – made entirely of recycled plastic, which can easily be produced on a large scale.
Italian designer Pietro Algranti creates bespoke furniture and objects using dilapidated and waste materials. He makes tables, kitchens, beds, lamps, chairs and other objects from recycled wood, iron, aluminium, copper and brass. German designer Phillip Hainke developed his organic project to investigate traditional and renewable resources for the development of innovative materials. He created a chair made from hemp fiber and casein which is then colored with natural pigments.
Pensiero Materia, created by Luca Alessandrini and the design studio HENRY & Co, gives life to objects made from natural resources. They designed a set of kitchen utensils made from bioplastic and Sicilian tomato skin waste. The set was 3D printed and is 100% recyclable. They have also designed the “Arco” table lamp made with coffee waste from the Autogrill food chain and the kite tiles made with residual biomass, 100% natural sound-absorbing and flame-retardant.
